This charming Cape Cod home is frequently mistaken for an antique oceanside home, possibly built in the 1700s. A quaint stepping-stone at the base of the pine board front door has a stone inscribed 1775 that adds to the enchantment. The picturesque home is surrounded by beautiful rose and perennial gardens and seaside landscaping. Crushed clamshells line the walkways and driveway. The home was built in two phases by Alpha Construction Services. The first two-bedroom phase was actually built in 1970. Outdoor cedar shingles are tarnished to a silver gray. Wooden shingles on the roof add to the historic charm. Two large wall-to-ceiling brick central fireplaces warm the two main floors. A beautiful loft looks over the open-to-the-ceiling dining room and similarly opened, efficient kitchen. A wonderful oak spiral staircase is the central focus of the main living room. Another spiral staircase turns down to the lower living area. Large pine beams grace the white hand-swirled ceilings.
A second phase was built by Alpha Construction Services in 1984. An open-ceiling, pine beamed Great Room was added. It also had a lovely floor-to-ceiling brick fireplace. This addition had a small library, two more bedrooms, and a sweet art gallery that hosts the owner's beautiful Cape Cod oil paintings. This year round home is often a stop on Cape Cod home and garden tours. Travelers often stop in front of the home asking the owners about the history of the antique Cape and wonder if photographs can be taken of the house and its beautiful Cape Cod gardens.
